MenuTube is a free macOS app that enables you to play and browse YouTube videos, podcasts, audiobooks, interviews directly from your macOS menubar.

Cons
The downside for MenuTube is that it is not a native app, it is written using Electron.js which is basically a JavaScript app within a Chrome shell, that enables you to browse YouTube as a mobile version.
The other issue for MenuTube is that it did not receive any update for years, but it is still functional.
For some reasons, the DMG release is not working, i had to build the app from source with some customization to run it.
