AI Reaches Printers 😵‍💫: HP Print AI Takes the Lead

HP has announced the launch of the HP Print AI program, which aims to bring AI features to the printing process 🖨️.

One of the most prominent features HP discussed is called "Perfect Output." This feature automatically formats web pages to be printable by removing unwanted elements, ensuring clean and concise printouts. But honestly, who still prints web pages in 2024? 😒

Additionally, HP Print AI introduces AI-powered formatting for Excel documents, offering “customized technical support” based on each user’s needs. While this sounds promising, I can’t help but wonder whether this support will actually make a difference or just be another underwhelming feature in practice. Let's wait and see if HP can deliver on this promise 😏.

The program is currently available as a trial version for select users, with a broader launch planned for 2025. However, HP has yet to specify which printer models will receive these AI capabilities. It leaves me wondering whether this will benefit newer models or if it’s simply an attempt to push users into upgrading their hardware.

Do we really need an AI printer in our lives right now? Instead of addressing the ongoing issues with many of their printer models, HP has decided to introduce artificial intelligence that—frankly—feels unnecessary and will hardly benefit most users 🤷‍♂️.

This wave of AI integration into virtually everything has become a trend that seems more absurd by the day.

Companies are adding AI to tasks that don’t require it, often solving problems that either don't exist or could easily be addressed without it. What are your thoughts? Is AI really making our lives better, or is it just adding complexity to simple tasks?
